"I'm Not Scared" – No Apology From Hadi Awang For Claims About DAP Being Pro-Communist
"See you in court," PAS president Hadi Awang said in response to Kepong candidate Lim Lip Eng.
The 15th General Election (GE15) is seeing old wounds being reopened as PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has alleged that DAP is a "communist supporter"
In a series of tweets posted last month, 19 October, Hadi claimed that DAP actively pushes communist ideologies in to Malaysia and urged citizens not to support them.
Hadi attached a poster with the text, "#TolakDAP, Pro-Komunis" along with his tweets talking about the perils of communism.
He also alleged that the concept of communism rejects the belief in God and that communists are worse than Christian and Jewish colonisers.
"Their ideology colonises the minds of people of various races to be recruited as their military forces," the Marang candidate continued in his series of tweets.
A second poster depicting "proof" that DAP members were pro-communists was also attached.
Points of the alleged proof included were pictures of DAP members bringing back the ashes of the late communist guerilla leader Ong Boon Hua, popularly known as Chin Peng, DAP allies attending pro-communist gatherings, and publishing material that pushed the communist ideology.
The Marang incumbent thus urged Malaysians to resist DAP's alleged efforts to bring communism into the country.
Responding to Hadi's accusations was Kepong incumbent Lim Lip Eng, who claimed that this is the fourth accusation Hadi has made against DAP
According to Free Malaysia Today, Lim, who has been vocal about Hadi's past controversial remarks, has filed a police report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters under Sections 499, 504, 555(b), and 505(c) of the Penal Code, as well as the Sedition Act 1948.
"These are all very serious allegations for which DAP could be prosecuted, yet he (Hadi) doesn't dare to make a police report against us. It's as if Hadi is 'untouchable' or 'above the law'," Lim said.
Meanwhile, Kepong AMANAH deputy chief Zainal Abidin Rahmat, urged Hadi and other PAS members to refrain from making controversial remarks, especially during a volatile time such as the election period.
"Pakatan Harapan has been consistent in trying to reconcile the relationship between all races in Malaysia, and we don't want our efforts to go to waste because of such racist statements," Zainal was quoted as saying during a press conference, during which Lim and Kepong MUDA deputy chief Momen Abdul Aziz were also present.
Despite the backlash from both politicians, Hadi has refused to retract his statements, saying he will not be apologising for his words
According to New Straits Times, the PAS president said that he saw no reason to withdraw his previous statements about the opposition party and claims to have evidence to back up his claims.
"I'm not afraid and I will not apologise for the statement. [I will] see you in court," Hadi said in response to the DAP politician.
He also clarified to reporters that he does not think that all DAP members are pro-communists but he claimed to know those who are.
Based on reports, Hadi has provided his statement to Bukit Aman.
