Immigration Officer Taken Off Duty After He Was Caught Assaulting A Foreigner On Camera
The incident happened in Johor Bahru.
An immigration officer has been removed from active duty after he was caught on camera assaulting a foreigner over the counter
The Star Online reported that the incident happened at around 9am today, 30 May, at the immigration office in Wisma Persekutuan, Johor Bahru.
A 10-second clip shows the officer smacking the foreigner across the head with an object while instructing him to place his hand on a scanner. The officer could also be heard berating the foreigner.
According to Harian Metro, the foreigner is a Burmese national.
Apart from being removed from duty, the officer in question will also face disciplinary action
"We will not tolerate any action or behaviour that destroys the department's image," Johor Immigration Department director Datuk Rohaizi Bahari said in a report by Harian Metro.
