Japanese Govt Invites M'sians Under 35 To Apply For Their 2023 Postgraduate Scholarships

The Japanese government is inviting Malaysian students to apply for their 2023 MEXT Postgraduate (Research Students) Scholarship programme for a chance to pursue their research in Japan
The Embassy of Japan in Malaysia announced that applications for the scholarship programme is open from now until 29 April 2022.
The scholarships are targeted towards Malaysians under the age of 35 (as of next year), who aim to start their postgraduate studies at a Japanese university in April or October 2023.
Applicants must be a Bachelor's or Master's degree holder with a minimum CGPA of 3.4. Undergraduates or Master's students who are in their final year this year are also eligible to apply.
The scholarship covers monthly allowances, fees for the entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition, as well as a round-trip flight ticket to Japan
Although subject to change, the embassy said recipients will get a monthly stipend of JPY143,000 (approximately RM5,200) for the duration of their postgraduate course that is usually one-and-a-half or two years.
The tenure of the scholarship is from April 2023 to March 2025.
The government is looking for students with an interest in the field of:
β Humanities and Social Sciences (such as Literature, History, Aesthetics, Laws, Politics, Economics, Commerce, Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology, Music, Fine Arts, Business Administration, etc), or
β Natural Sciences (such as Pure Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Fisheries, Pharmacology, Medicine, Dentistry, Home Economics, etc).
They said the applicant's area of study must be in the same field that the applicant has studied or worked in previously
All applicants must also have a good command of English or Japanese.
If not fluent in Japanese, the applicant must be willing to sit through a six-month intensive course to learn the language so that they may receive university instruction in it and adapt to life in the country.
