Kedah Man Arrested For Trying To Run Over His Wife With A Myvi At Supermarket Car Park
The couple's child, who was present at the scene, managed to save the woman from getting hit by the car.
A man in Kedah was recently detained by the police after he tried to run over his wife with a car
Astro Awani reported that the incident took place on Wednesday, 20 May, at a supermarket parking lot near Tandop, Alor Setar.
Determined to kill his wife, the man tried to run over her with his Myvi.
However, his plans were foiled when the wife was saved by one of their children present at the scene
Kota Star Police chief ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin told Berita Harian that the 45-year-old man became furious after fighting with his wife around midnight at the parking lot.
He noted that according to initial investigations, family problems were the main cause of their fight.
"The suspect, driving a Perodua Myvi, tried to run over the victim but he failed. Their child who was present at the scene managed to save the woman from getting hit by the car," he said.
The man was arrested after the wife filed a police report against him
Mohd Rozi also explained to Astro Awani that if the woman was not saved by her child, the case would have been classified as a murder.
"If she was not rescued, we would have probably classfied this case under Section 302 of the Penal Code. However, investigations are still ongoing to see what actions would be appropriate to be taken on the man," he said.
Instead, the case will be investigated under Section 307 for attempt to murder.
