The huge Giant Hypermarket in Kelana Jaya has officially shut down on Sunday, 26 November, after 19 years in business

One of the most iconic hypermarkets in Klang Valley, it bid farewell to make way for a new project, reported Berita Harian.

Earlier this year, UEM Sunrise stated that it had bought the land, where the hypermarket is located, for real estate development.

According to the statement reported by New Straits Timesthe land will be redeveloped with mixed development, consisting of apartments, offices and supermarkets, as well as retail lots.

Photos and videos on social media reveal nothing but an empty grocery store now, as many people bid their last goodbyes

The grocery store had a clearance sale of up to 70% off in its last days.

Several customers also reminisced about their cherished memories at the hypermarket, recalling visits from childhood and grocery shopping as students
