Animal welfare group Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) also called for an investigation into the footage
On Sunday, 18 October, SAFM issued a statement urging the police, the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the footage and verify the allegations.
"Such allegations must be taken seriously. If proven, the act would constitute a grave form of animal abuse that warrants stern action under Malaysian law," the group said.

Pasir Puteh district police chief Supt Saari Yaacob confirmed the arrest of the 49-year-old suspect on Monday, 19 October, following a police report lodged the previous day
According to the New Straits Times, Saari said the case is being investigated under Section 377 of the Penal Code, which concerns carnal intercourse with an animal, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which concerns the improper use of network facilities or services.
He urged the public not to speculate, make accusations, or circulate unverified information that could jeopardise the investigation.
He also advised the public against resharing the footage out of respect for public sensitivities and to prevent the spread of inappropriate content.
