KL Man Crashes Into MCO Police Roadblock As He Was Texting Behind The Wheel

Police have arrested the man and seized his car.

A man recently met an accident as he crashed into a police roadblock set up at Old Klang Road while using his phone behind the wheel

The Star reported that the suspect is a 40-year-old man and the incident took place around 5.50pm on Sunday, 17 January.

Brickfields district police chief ACP Anuar Omar said that the man admitted to using his mobile phone while driving and was distracted.

He crashed his car into the police roadblock signage but thankfully no one was hurt

According to Bernama, police have arrested the man and seized his car.

Anuar Omar explained, "He claimed that he had gone out to buy food at Taman Gembira in Old Klang Road."

"The suspect does not have a criminal record and his urine also tested negative for drugs," he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 26 (2) of the Police Act 1967

Anuar Omar urged the public to be cautious while driving as any mishap could endanger their lives and the lives of others on the road.

"We also hope that the public will comply with the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Movement Control Order (MCO) areas.
