JB Petrol Station Murder Suspects Chant "Long Live Mahathir" Outside Court

Clad in white t-shirts, the suspects were present at the High Court for mention of the brutal murder last December.

China Press reported that all 37 men were charged under the controversial Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA), which was enacted to address terrorism threats and violent conduct in the country.

According to NTV7, the suspects chanted in support of Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad after he recently said that the government plans to repeal SOSMA, the contentious act which the suspects were detained under.

China Press also reported one of the suspects as claiming that he was innocent.

"They caught us because they couldn't find the actual murderer," the suspect was quoted as saying by China Press.

The suspects, aged between 16 to 26, were arrested in Singapore, Penang, Johor, and Thailand

According to NTV7, the mention of the case has been delayed to 12 August.
