Malaysian Company Launches Premium Halal Mineral Water For RM6. What's Next?

"Next is halal air."

On 28 November, The Star's Metro section ran a story about the launch of "the world's first premium halal mineral water for a refined taste of wellness". The "premium" halal mineral water comes from Lumin Spring International Group Sdn Bhd and is certified by the Health Ministry and JAKIM as "safe for consumption", it reported.

Packaged in an "elegant bottle", The Star said the Lumin Spring halal mineral water is expected to be priced between RM6-RM6.50

This news of halal mineral water comes after it was reported that Putrajaya wants to enforce a trolley segregation law for non-halal items in shopping malls, which made Malaysians on social media question the logic behind such a law.

Following which, on 17 November, BN Bertam assemblyman, Shariful Azhar Othman urged the Penang government to ensure that all restaurants and hotels in the state are Muslim-friendly

Coming back to Lumin Spring, "the world's first premium halal mineral water", if you're having a hard time wrapping your head around it, you're not the only one. Going by the reactions posted on social media, not many are drawn towards the concept of having halal water, which automatically implies there exist non-halal water.
