In the wake of the situation between Israel and Palestine, many have taken to the streets to organise rallies and express their support.

One Malaysian, however, has found an ingenious way to show his support by organising a virtual protest in support of the Palestinians on the online gaming platform, Roblox.

The virtual protest gained global attention after Afiq bin Mat Zaid uploaded a video of it on TikTok.

In the video, an army of Roblox avatars can be seen marching while holding flags from Palestine and Malaysia, as Afiq can be heard reciting prayers.

The avatars are also seen assembled within a virtual amphitheatre-like structure called Dataran Tanjung Mas, while holding signs which read "Solidarity Untukmu Palestine".

Afiq, who is also known as Cikgu Zyd on social media, stated that a total of 500 participants joined the virtual protest.

Speaking to SAYS, Afiq shared that being a content creator, he felt obliged to enlighten his young audience about this pressing humanitarian issue through his platform

"Roblox is a platform that allows us to convey information, and we should make good use of it to raise awareness about humanitarian issues, particularly the ongoing Palestinian crisis," he shared.

Afiq stated that the virtual protest started on 21 October, with subsequent sessions being held during his live broadcasts.

Additionally, he shared that he has been organising various events in Roblox and Grand Theft Auto V since the Movement Control Order (MCO) in 2020.

The virtual protest quickly went viral, amassing over one million views on TikTok with netizens flooding the comment section

"Keep up the effort sir. A very creative way to educate the kids," praised one user.

"Well done. Every little bit helps," commented another.

While another user commented, "Thank you, you have inspired the youths to use the internet in a more beneficial way. Keep it up.
