A Kedah school has made the nation proud by winning the Sudler Shield Award at the 2016 World Championship of Marching Show Band (WCMSB)
Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Keat Hwa won the prestigious marching band competition held from 3 to 6 August, 2016 at the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Stadium.
The school from Alor Setar emerged as the overall champion after beating eight other teams and winning several other categories.
The award was presented by Professor W Dale Warren, the chairman of the John Philip Souza Foundation Sudler Shield Jury to SMJK Keat Hwa principal Yeoh Chui Seang at the school's hall yesterday, 20 March.
The news was reported by Bernama yesterday, 20 March.
According to Tang Chia Hoe, Keat Hwa's school band coach, the judges were thoroughly impressed by his band's performance which was adapted from a Bruce Lee film
It was also reported that a school from Taiwan, Chien Kuo High School, won the second place while Indonesia's Bahana Sparadha and Malaysia's Victoria Institution secured the third and fourth place, respectively.
