Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted at about 10.10pm to an incident at the condominium at 3 Central Boulevard.
On arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from several upper levels and traced the smoke to the 65th-floor.
They encountered heavy smoke and intense heat as they made their way to the floor.

Using breaking tools, they forced entry into the service lift lobby area of the 65th-floor, and found it fully engulfed in flames.

Raffles Quay Asset Management Says During A Fire, All Lift Are Sent To The Ground Floor And Residents Are Instructed To Use The Stairs

The management said there are residents living in only about 20 of the 221 units in Marina Bay Suites. So far, 203 units have been sold.

Raffles Quay Asset Management, which manages Marina Bay Suites, said the safety of the residents and staff remained top priority. It said all lifts are sent to the ground floor during a fire and residents are instructed to evacuate to a safe area on the ground floor using the stairs.
