Peng Soon-Liu Ying lost to Indonesia's Natsir-Ahmad and had to settle for a silver medal.
Malaysians were quick to rally behind their national heroes, expressing their heartiest congratulations for the pair's amazing feat at the sporting event

The pair's parents who have been supporting them from Malaysia are extremely proud of their children's outstanding accomplishment at the Games
Liu Ying's parents, Goh Chak Whee and Yong Ooi Lin, were overjoyed and all smiles as they watched their beloved daughter grabbed the silver medal for Malaysia in the Rio Games.
"To win a silver medal is already something that we can be proud of. It would have been a bonus if they had won the gold medal," Yong reportedly said.
It was the same with Peng Soon's parents who expressed their pride and commended their son for contributing a silver to the country.
"I am proud that Peng Soon eventually succeeded in fulfilling his dream of becoming a truly international badminton athlete," Peng Soon's father, Chan Chee Kong was quoted as saying by Bernama.
