T Ananda Krishnan was one of the richest people in Malaysia.
Maxis Bhd founder and billionaire T Ananda Krishnan passed away today, 28 November, at the age of 86
Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd, Ananda's investment holding firm, confirmed his passing in a statement, reported FMT.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the demise of our chairman, T Ananda Krishnan, who passed away peacefully on 28 November.
"He has made significant contributions to nation-building and the corporate world, and his philanthropic initiatives have touched many lives. We humbly ask that the family's wishes to mourn in private be respected," read the statement.
Ananda was known for founding Maxis Bhd, a leading telecommunications company in Malaysia, and Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, a satellite broadcasting and media company
He was a Harvard Business School alumnus who became one of Malaysia's richest people.
Forbes ranked him as the sixth-richest person in Malaysia with a net worth of USD4.8 billion (about RM21.3 billion).
