A medical officer in Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), Johor Bahru is currently being investigated over a tweet insulting a cancer patient

On 8 November, they wrote, "You've had brain cancer for six to seven months but why did you have to be referred at 3-4am pig? Can't wait until tomorrow? Six to seven months with cancer like that, but the creature is still breathing. Couldn't you just be referred tomorrow?"

The man proceeded to insult the patient and called them 'p*ki anjing' which, translated literally, means 'dog's vagina'.

Sinar Harian reported that the tweet went viral and garnered the attention of social media users.

Netizens criticised the medical officer and said that they were rude and insensitive towards the patient with brain cancer.

According to HSA director Dr Mohtar Pungut, the management has set up a special committee to look into the matter

He told Utusan Malaysia, "We take seriously the actions of a medical officer who hurled insults at a patient on social media recently. In this regard, a special committee has been set up to investigate this matter and action will be taken if found guilty."

An official statement from Dr Mohtar was also issued on the official Johor health department Facebook page.

He ended the statement by saying, "On behalf of HSA, I'd like to apologise for the statement that was made by the medical officer which hurt the feelings of the community."
