In the short clips and photos shared online, thick black smoke can be seen emerging from a corner inside the mall.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has also tweeted about the incident, stating that efforts are being made to extinguish the fire
"Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire. No road is blocked," it said in a tweet.
Responding to the incident, the mall has issued a statement.
"A fire broke out at the external TNB Substation, Mid Valley City, and was subsequently contained by Emergency Response Team. Members of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene at 10.42am to subdue the fire.
"The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department are currently on scene conducting all necessary investigations and securing the premises with no further disruptions to the mall operations," read the statement released today, 17 May.
The mall also confirmed that there have been no injuries or casualties reported. Additionally, the statement mentioned that Mid Valley City will be closed until further notice, and apologised for any inconvenience caused, emphasising that the safety of shoppers and guests remains their top priority.
