Former National Paralympic Badminton Champion Honoured With Competent Teacher Award
He said that he considers his disability an opportunity and not an obstacle to being an educator.

Yesterday, 15 May, a former paralympic badminton champion was selected to receive the Competent Teacher Award at the 2023 Teachers' Day Awards Ceremony at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC)
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek presented 56-year-old Jasmi Md Tegol with the award, as well as RM3,000 cash and a certificate of appreciation, reports New Straits Times.
Jasmi currently teaches Bahasa Melayu (BM) at SMK China Lubok in Melaka. He was a former national, Asian, and world paralympic badminton champion.

"I consider my disability as an opportunity and not an obstacle to be an educator, and the award I received today is also due to this," Jasmi said, as quoted by Bernama.
He is also the president of the Malaysian Sports and Recreation Council for the Disabled.
Jasmi added that the award he received proved to the community that individuals with disabilities are capable of being independent and accomplishing great things in their lives, thereby dispelling the misconception that people with disabilities like to beg.
