Police Solve Murder Case Involving A Couple After Man's Body Discovered In Car Boot
Flies led to the discovery of the body in the car boot.
A man's body was found in the boot of a car at a roadside on Jalan Jemaluang-Kahang, Mersing, Johor on 28 December
Mersing police chief Supt Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani stated in a statement that the body of Shakirin Mohamad, 28, was found fully clothed with neck injuries in a black Proton Waja.
Following the discovery, a special investigation was carried out, with the team arresting a 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman at 4.30am on 29 December, solving the case in less than 24 hours.
The suspects are being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The victim was last seen washing his car at his family home in Felda Pasak, Kota Tinggi, on the day of the Christmas
His sister, Norashikin Mohamad, said Shakirin left the house in his car around 5pm without telling anyone and did not return, reported Berita Harian.
A few days later, the family received news of Shakirin's body being discovered and were asked to be at the Forensic Department of Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) yesterday morning.
The suspect is believed to be the ex-husband of a female acquaintance of the victim
Shakirin was married but separated about a year ago and had no children.
The family remarked that he had no enemies, but one of his friends mentioned that the suspect, understood to be the ex-husband of a female acquaintance, had threatened him.
"As far as we knew, the woman was a widow, so we didn't mind if they wanted to get married. However, the police told us they had only recently divorced this month," she said.
The police believe the victim was murdered elsewhere, possibly in Johor Bahru, and then taken to Mersing.
Though it was painful to accept, Norashikin mentioned that the family felt relieved that her brother's murderer had been caught
Shakirin's father Mohammad Abu Bakar, 61, expressed deep sorrow at the loss of his eldest son.
He mentioned that now only two of his four children remain, as his second child passed away in 2022 due to illness.
"I'm sad that only two of my children are left," he said.
Shakirin's body was brought back to Felda Pasak, Kota Tinggi, for burial at the Felda Pasak Islamic Cemetery after the autopsy was completed.
