"We believe the victim was stabbed several times with a sharp object and is now being treated at the Penang Hospital," Timur Laut District Deputy Police Chief Supt Ismail Idris told reporters Sunday.

Passers-by spotted him, clad in wet clothing, lying next to the pier here, about 10pm on Saturday.
He was rushed to the Penang Hospital and warded at the intensive care unit where his condition remained critical.

According to reports, he had a heated argument earlier with 2 men over money

A police spokesman said early investigations showed that one man stabbed the foreigner with a knife at a temple near the pier following a heated argument.

George Town deputy OCPD Supt Ismail Toh Paduka Idris said the victim was found without any identification documents.

“He is still in critical condition and doctor has to operate on him. We have yet to record any statement,” he said.
