The Malaysian Insider says the launch of "Endless Possibilities" has been postponed to an indefinite date

Putrajaya's new "Endless Possibilities" campaign launch in the country has been postponed from the September 17 date, possibly indefinitely after it was found that Mongolia had used the same tag line some 19 months before Malaysia.

Following a tirade of criticisms on the “Endless Possibilities” branding tagline for being similar to that of Israel's and Mongolia's, speculations are rife that its September launch maybe postponed if not cancelled altogether.

It was learnt that the authorities are said to be considering other possibilities including coming up with new branding taglines that will not embarass them further after the "Endless Possibilities" debacle which saw the branding accused of being copied, first, from Israel but denied by the Prime Minister's office of such plagiarism.

The Malaysian Insider understands the campaign officials were red-faced due to the link to Mongolia, a sensitive subject as two Malaysian police commandos were charged and later acquitted for the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.

"The Malaysian launch is off. There is no new date," a source told The Malaysian Insider.

The opposition wants Putrajaya to explain how its new slogan “Endless Possibilities” is similar to that adopted by the Israel Government to promote tourism in that country. This despite Putrajaya having said it launched the campaign in January, months before Israel launched its version

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday, the Israel campaign titled “Israel. One place. Endless Possibilities” came out four months after Prime Minister unveiled the Malaysian campaign at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this year.

Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he is not satisfied with the government’s explanation. Anwar said the prime minister was notorious for adopting slogans which would help boost his popularity without bothering to check if it had been used before elsewhere.

“Now that it has been shown that Endless Possibilities has been used by Israel, how will the government justify continuing with the campaign?” Anwar asked.
