Mohd Shadzwan Kamalrulzaman and his teammates arrived at the Hong Kong Ineternational Airport when he responded to an emergency situation where a man had collapsed and needed immediate medical attention.

"A woman suddenly screamed for help. I looked around and saw a man lying unconscious, his lips blue, frothing at the mouth," he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

"I checked his pulse and found none. He also wasn't breathing. I decided to perform CPR on him until he eventually showed a response."

It was reported that Shadzwan, who is a doctor, only left after he saw that the man was able to move his lips and eyes and allowed the paramedics to take over

National head coach Goh Cheng Huat said that the situation could have aggravated if Shadzwan had not intervened.

"The man survived but without the swift action from Shadzwan, something unfortunate may have happened," he told Malaysiakini.

The incident was recorded and uploaded to Facebook by the President of the Malaysian Basketball Association (MABA), Lua Choon Hann

"Proud of you, Mohd Shadzwan Kamalrulzaman. Saving a life at Hong Kong Airport," the caption in the video post read.

In the video, a man was seen lying unconscious on the floor while his head was being tilted by another man who looked like one of the airport staff.

Although a woman standing nearby had urged him to act more quickly, Shadzwan appeared to be calm and continued to perform chest compression on the man.

The man who was lying unconscious seemed to be recovering in the video recording that lasted for almost a minute.

To date, the video has received more than 46,000 views and 200 shares.

Shadzwan did not know that his actions were recorded on video and he certainly did not expect the incident to go viral

"I felt that what I did wasn't that special as I'm sure anyone else would have done the same to help the man," said Shadzwan, who did not know that his actions were filmed.

"I am nevertheless happy at having helped in some way to save another person."

The 27-year-old and his teammates are in Hong Kong for the 21st Super Kung Sheong International Basketball Invitational Championship which is being held from yesterday, 13 December until 18 December.
