A photo of him has been making its rounds on Twitter. It shows the graduate holding his certificate in one hand while his right arm is raised, with his hand open and palm down.

The photo was originally uploaded by the graduate himself along with a caption that thanked Adolf Hitler for the Holocaust.

He stressed that it is a "symbol of solidarity for Muslims in Palestine who are being killed by Jewish people".

He wrote, "I raised a symbolic salute for Hitler on the sacred UMS stage because the world has turned a blind eye at Jewish people who rule like kings. It is as if Muslim leaders are just clowns meant for the entertainment of the world."

"I stand in solidarity with Gaza due to my rage, hatred, and vengeance for Jewish people. Therefore, I thank Hitler for the Holocaust."

The post can no longer be found on Facebook, while another post he wrote about Hitler was taken down by Facebook.

Netizens are criticising him for supporting the Holocaust

One Twitter user wrote, "I understand [their] sentiment of wanting to stand in solidarity with the Palestinians, but thanking the Holocaust is 100% wrong wrong wrong! Take back [their] degree, please. [They are] not worthy."

Another person asked, "So no statement yet from the university about how this doesn't respect the protocols of the event and is a disgrace to the occasion? No campaign and petition to revoke his degree? Alright, it's cool if it's a Nazi salute."

Another netizen said, "Doesn't he realise that if Malays were in Germany at the time, we would have been victims too. Why is he so stupid? Unless you have blue eyes and blonde hair, don't think you'll be spared."
