Unruly Football Fans Cause Heavy Damage To Owner's Restaurant During World Cup Finals
The restaurant's crew had to stay up until 5.30am to clean up the mess caused by the unruly customers.
It was a nail-biting night for football fans during the World Cup finals, where Argentina saw victory after going head-to-head with France.
However, one restaurant owner was left very unhappy after some fans celebrated a little too passionately at his establishment.
On Monday, 19 December, owner of Restoran Jamal Salim, located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, was left to pick up the pieces after fans wrecked his restaurant while watching the game.
According to his Facebook post, the owner, Shihan Salim, said that the rowdy customers had broken walls, smashed glass tables, and cracked plastic chairs.
"We avail amenities for you (customers) to celebrate the spirit of football, but you destroy our restaurant's property instead. Next time, we will display the faces of those who came to spoil the mood of the football game," the owner wrote.
"If this is how things are going to be, we will be thinking twice before allowing guests to come to our establishment to watch football."
Shihan later revealed that his restaurant crew stayed up until 5.30am to clean the entire establishment before they could operate normally in the morning.
Shihan also shared some videos, demonstrating how some customers behaved while watching the World Cup finals
Many customers can be seen standing on tables, clanging metal plates, and acting erratically throughout the game.
"In the name of good sportsmanship, why can't we all watch football with grace and decorum?" Shihan asked in a separate post regarding the incident.
The restaurant owner has also put out a message seeking compensation from the football fans for the food and drinks they did not pay for, and the damage they caused
