A Baby's Severed Body Was Found Without Her Head And Arms In Kedah
A passer-by stumbled upon the infant's body at the gate in front of a factory in Jalan Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani.
A passer-by got the shock of his life when he discovered the body of an abandoned baby on Sunday, 9 July
It was a gory sight for the man who stumbled upon the remains of the baby girl without her head and both her arms.
"The man was curious when he saw stray dogs were surrounding an object and upon closer look, saw the headless body of a baby," said Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zukir Md Isa.
The man contacted the police at about 4.30. Following the report, the authorities rushed to the scene at the factory located at Jalan Bakar 7, Bakar Arang in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
Initial investigations by the police revealed that the strays had eaten parts of the baby's body
"At this point, we suspect that the head and both her arms have been eaten by the strays," Mohd Zukir was quoted as saying by NST.
It was learned that the baby was only 35 weeks old (9 months).
In a statement yesterday, the police said that the post-mortem report stated that the cause of death is "unascertained" and the baby is believed to have died about one or two days ago.
The authorities are in the midst of identifying the suspect who dumped the baby in front of the factory
It was reported that the case was being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by the disposal of a dead body.
The charge under Section 318 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of two years or fine, or both, if convicted.
