It was a gory sight for the man who stumbled upon the remains of the baby girl without her head and both her arms.

"The man was curious when he saw stray dogs were surrounding an object and upon closer look, saw the headless body of a baby," said Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zukir Md Isa.

The man contacted the police at about 4.30. Following the report, the authorities rushed to the scene at the factory located at Jalan Bakar 7, Bakar Arang in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

Initial investigations by the police revealed that the strays had eaten parts of the baby's body

"At this point, we suspect that the head and both her arms have been eaten by the strays," Mohd Zukir was quoted as saying by NST.

It was learned that the baby was only 35 weeks old (9 months).

In a statement yesterday, the police said that the post-mortem report stated that the cause of death is "unascertained" and the baby is believed to have died about one or two days ago.

The authorities are in the midst of identifying the suspect who dumped the baby in front of the factory
