Bukit Aman Crime Prevention Department director Comm Datuk Ayub Yaakob said all staff at Petron stations had been trained to handle emergency situations involving crime, such as contacting the police for help and providing emotional and physical aid to victims.

The kiosks, he added, would also serve as a converging area for police patrols. Comm Ayub said victims could meet police personnel at these places and lodge their reports instead of having to go to police stations.

“The Go-to-Safety points programme first started with all 7-Eleven stores and Pos Malaysia outlets earlier this year and is now being expanded to Petron stations. “We hope to further expand this initiative by including all petrol stations in the future,” he added.
