PERHILITAN Successfully Captures Crocodile In Shah Alam Lake
The department said the reptile likely got lost during recent heavy rains and flash floods in the area.

The Selangor Wildlife and National Parks Department (PERHILITAN) has successfully captured the crocodile that was recently spotted at the Section 7 lake in Shah Alam
According to Bernama, Selangor PERHILITAN director Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh confirmed that the animal entered a trap they had set at 10.20pm last night, 4 September.
"Alhamdulillah, the operation was successful and we rescued the 1.68m-long saltwater crocodile, which weighs about 15 to 20kg," he said.
Following a viral video of the crocodile, the Shah Alam City Council had advised the public to exercise caution when visiting the lake.
PERHILITAN caught the animal within 24 hours after setting traps and confirming its presence with a drone
Mohd Adib said the operation was successful as they had managed to clear the recreational area at night, minimising disturbances.
"This led to the crocodile going into the trap that we had set using fresh chicken as bait," he said after the operation last night.
According to Berita Harian, the department speculates that the reptile became lost during recent heavy rains that caused flash floods in the area.
The lake will remain closed to the public while PERHILITAN continues monitoring for two more days to ensure no other crocodiles are present.
Mohd Adib said the crocodile will be relocated to the Paya Indah Wetlands ecotourism park in Dengkil
The reptile will undergo a quarantine process to ensure it is disease-free before being released into the park.
