The wrath of Mother Nature befall an approximately 2,000 residents of Teratai Apartment at Taman Bunga Raya, Rawang after the area was inundated with continuous torrential rain early Monday morning. The continuous rain is believed to have caused the loosening of soil that led to a landslide near the apartment's Block K and L.

Kuala Kubu Baru Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Azhar Tajudin said 12 personnel were dispatched to the scene after the department received a distress call at 10.44am.

“Fellow residents detected landslide nearby Block L of the apartment. Currently, the Fire and Rescue Department as well as Public Works Department are stationed at the scene to safeguard the area," said Joint Management Committee President, Suhaili Abdul. He added that similar incident has happened four years ago. Concerned of the safety of residents, it has become a huge concern of the folks.

While residents were evacuated to temporary relocation centres at three nearby schools, Fire and Rescue personnel were monitoring the situation at the five-storey apartment

It is learnt that early signs of soil erosion had appeared in the vicinity of the apartments on Sunday, with the situation worsening today morning. Sources said as of 8pm today, preliminary reports showed that the movement of soil in the affected areas had not ceased.
