[PHOTOS] Malaysia's New Cabinet Ministers At Their Official First Day Of Work

The MPs were sworn in in front of the king at Istana Negara yesterday, 21 May.

Today, 22 May, the core Cabinet Ministers of the Pakatan Harapan government arrived at their prospective offices for their official first day of duty

13 of the eventually 25-member Cabinet ministers were sworn in in front of the king at Istana Negara yesterday, 21 May.

Dr Mahathir is expected to name the rest of his Cabinet line-up in stages, Channel NewsAsia reported.

Here are some of the Cabinet Ministers clocking in at work today:

1. Dato' Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister and Women and Family Development Minister

Malaysia's first woman deputy prime minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail arrived at the Perdana Leadership Foundation office at 9am.

She told reporters that, "I am very excited to start my duty with my colleagues to form a strong team to develop our beloved country," The Star reported.

2. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Utama Haji Muhyiddin Yassin, Home Minister

According to Malaysiakini, Muhyiddin Yassin arrived at his new office in Putrajaya to a welcome sign prepared by the Home Ministry staff.

He told reporters that, "I told the staff we will have to work harder, there is a new benchmark and not of the past..we will have to deliver and they will have to think outside the box in order to deliver."

3. Dr. Maszlee Malik, Education Minister

After clocking in for duty at the Education Ministry at 9.30am, Maszlee chaired his first meeting in Putrajaya, The Star reported.

4. Rina Harun, Rural Development Minister

According to New Straits Times, Rina reported for her first day at the ministry at 9.20am.

She told reporters at her office in Present Four that she aims to narrow the gap between urban and rural areas.

5. Dato' Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Economic Affairs Minister

Selangor Chief Minister Azmin Ali arrived at the Prime Minister's Office at 7.40am and was soon briefed by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).

He then held a press conference in which he said that the government can no longer practice direct negotiations and limited tenders.

6. Hon Zuraida Kamaruddin, Housing and Local Government Minister

According to Berita Harian, Zuraida was greeted by Head Secretary Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek upon arrival at the ministry at 9.30am.

She hosted her first press conference as Housing and Local Government Minister at 12pm.

7. Lim Guan Eng, Finance Minister

Lim Guan Eng explored his new office with his wife Betty Chew, Bangi MP Ong Kian Mingm and Damansara MP Tony Pua, Malaysiakini reported.

8. Anthony Loke, Transport Minister

After arriving at work at 8.20am, Anthony hosted a closed meeting with the upper management at the Transport Ministry, Berita Harian reported.

9. Gobind Singh Deo, Communications and Multimedia Minister

According to Malaysia Today, Gobind clocked in at the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) in Putrajaya at 8.15am.

Soon after, he announced that he will be proposing the repeal of the Anti-Fake News Act 2018.

10. M. Kulasegaran, Human Resource Minister

Kulasegaran posted several photos of his arrival at the Ministry of Human Resources on his official Facebook page, thanking those who greeted him for their support.

11. Haji Mohamad Sabu, Defence Minister

In Kuala Lumpur, Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu began his duties by inspecting the Malay Regiment guards of honour, Malaysiakini reported.

12. Dr. Haji Dzulkefly Ahmad, Health Minister

Dzulkefly was welcomed by the Ministry of Health's staff upon arrival at the Putrajaya office, the photos of which were posted on the Ministry of Health's official Facebook page.
