PLUS May Soon Allow You To Pay For Tolls Using Credit And Debit Cards
The move may help ease congestion at toll booths.
PLUS Malaysia may soon allow motorists to pay for tolls using credit and debit cards in the near future
Berita Harian reported that the new method would involve linking one's credit or debit card to their existing radio-frequency identification (RFID) account.
PLUS Malaysia managing director Datuk Azman Ismail said the concessionary is looking into allowing motorists to link other e-wallets to their FRID accounts, as well.
Azman explained that the introduction of more toll payment methods is to reduce traffic congestion
"One of the main causes of congestion at toll booths is the lack of funds in Touch n' Go (TnG) cards or SmartTAGs," Azman explained to Berita Harian.
"Thus, moving forward, PLUS is at the phase of implementing more payment methods such as debit and credit cards to solve the issue of toll booth congestion."
PLUS expects the additional payment options to be available by the end of the year
Azman also shared that PLUS will be upgrading 1,400 close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to models with Ultra HD resolution.
About 10% of the cameras have already been upgraded.
"With these modern cameras, PLUS hopes to deliver messages and information to motorists in a visual way with accuracy and efficiency," he explained.
