The driver dangerously overtook the vehicles in front of his car in spite of oncoming traffic.
A Perodua Kenari managed to narrowly escape a head-on collision with a BMW recently. The video of the incident has become viral on social media.
Facebook user Nojahwati Sohaini took to social media and warned others of a BMW driver who put the lives of others in danger by driving recklessly on the road.
Her brother, Mohd Firdaus Sohaini, was travelling with a friend in a Perodua Kenari along Jalan Ulu Penggeli-Bandar Tenggara on 2 September when they got into an accident. The incident happened when Firdaus tried to avoid colliding with an oncoming BMW car after the latter dangerously overtook the vehicles at the head of the queue.
"Fortunately my brother survived. To the car (black BMW) concerned, you're very rude. You made my brother only an inch away from death," Nojahwati wrote in her post.
Nojahwati shared a video that depicted the whole incident that happened in split seconds
It is learned that the video, which has received more than 140,000 views at the time of writing, was captured by a dashboard camera attached on the vehicle that was driving behind Firdaus' car.
In the video, Firdaus, who was driving the Perodua Kenari, can be seen driving along the road. Suddenly, a black BMW decided to overtake the vehicles in front at high speed.
Firdaus somehow managed to narrowly avoid a collision during the overtaking as his car veered towards the left side of the road, but it eventually skidded off the road and crashed into a divider at the opposite direction.
At the same time, a motorcyclist riding on the opposite direction managed to brake in time and avoided crashing into the Kenari.
According to Nojahwati, Firdaus is in trauma while his friend received five stitches on the head following the incident.
The police are currently on the lookout for the said BMW driver after the video went viral on social media
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Laham reportedly said that the police are in the midst of identifying the perpetrator involved in the incident.
He urged the BMW driver to come forward to assist police in their investigation.
The case is being investigated under Rule 6 (1) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 on the offence of overtaking another vehicle in a dangerous situation which may cause harm.
