S'pore News Portal Says "Sorry" For Its False Report Against Johor's Govt Hospital

The portal also took down the article.

Earlier today, 3 September, a Singapore news portal, The Independent, took down its sensational story that alleged that a "Malaysian hospital demanded cash payment before treatment"

Replacing the article's link with an apology, titled, "We're Sorry!", the portal wrote:

"We unreservedly apologise to the parties concerned for the anguish and distress this incident has caused."

The portal took the decision after the Health Ministry said that they will be writing a formal letter to Singapore soon to express its dissatisfaction over the report and is mulling a legal suit

Malaysia's Health Ministry (MOH) had quashed allegations by the Singapore news portal that Johor's government hospital had refused treatment of the 25-year-old hit-and-run victim because no cash payment was done up front.
