Police On The Hunt For Cyclist Who Flashed A Woman And Chased After Her
The man, wearing a green T-shirt, makes several rounds of the area until he spots the victim inside her car.
On Tuesday morning, 27 April, a 23-year-old woman on the way to work was sexually harassed by a man riding a bicycle in Kota Bharu
The suspect was seen cycling around Lorong Taman Limau Manis at the time of the incident.
According to a viral closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the man, wearing a green T-shirt, makes several rounds of the area until he spots the victim inside her car parked by the side of the street.
He spends over a minute, circling around the street, ensuring that he's in the clear before he decides to stop his bicycle near the driver's side of the window and starts signalling the woman for something.
Following his initial attempt to engage the woman in a conversation, the cyclist, once again, leaves the spot, circles around, and comes back to where the victim's car is parked.
The woman, appearing to be confused by the man's behaviour, take him to be a beggar and gives him a one ringgit note. The man takes the money but starts to unzip his pants.
He continues to unzip and gestures to the victim by rubbing his penis
However, once he notices other vehicles, he quickly zips up his pants and rides away.
The victim, sensing a window of opportunity to get away from the situation, opens the driver's side of the gate and starts to collect her things before the suspect — who notices her — could come back.
As she closes her car's door, the man turns and starts cycling his way to her. Freaked out, the woman starts running with the suspect now chasing after her in order to corner her.
Fortunately, a couple of other motorists notices the scene and slows down to check, making the suspect cautious as he slowly makes another turn and rides away from the scene.
The woman has since lodged a police report
According to Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Abdul Rahim Daud, the 23-year-old victim lodged the report at Kota Bharu district police station on Wednesday morning, 28 April.
He said that they have obtained the man's image from the CCTV installed near the area.
The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code.
