A police team from the Sentul district took action after spotting trio, aged between 20 and 26, acting suspiciously in a housing area in Wangsa Maju at around 8.30pm yesterday.

According to ACP Khairi, the driver of the red Satria Neo ignored orders to leave the car when approached by the police, and sped off, ramming into a policeman’s motorcycle.

The suspects also rammed into eight cars and two motorcycles during the high speed chase before being arrested by police on Friday.

“When we checked the vehicle, we found that the driver was shot in the head,” ACP Khairi was quoted saying

The driver was reported to be in a critical condition and was sent to Ampang Hospital for treatment. He died at 5.40am today.

He and the other two, including a woman, all aged between 20 to 30 years old had sped off to avoid further checks when they were stopped in Wangsa Maju at about 8.30pm last night.

Police found a bag which was believed to have been robbed from a victim in Wangsa Maju, drug-taking paraphernalia and two parang in the car

The police also found tools which were believed to have been used by the trio to commit robberies.

The car was also reported to have been stolen.

The case is reportedly investigated under section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and section 411 of the Penal Code for car theft.
