It took fire-fighting boats more than five hours to put out the fire

According to a report in Reuters, the fire on the ocean surface west of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula has now been extinguished after more than five hours of fire-fighting boats spraying more water on the flame.

The fire began in an underwater pipeline that connects to a platform at Mexico's state-owned oil company Pemex's flagship Ku Maloob Zaap oil development, the Reuters report said.
