The inter-monsoon season is taking its toll on Penang. First, the freak storm that claimed several lives. Now, roaring 2 meter strong waves were seen pounding against the Penang coastline. More strong winds and big waves are expected along the West Coast.

The rough seas and strong waves were caused by the inter-monsoon season

STRONG waves hit Penang yesterday as areas at Pantai Bersih here and the Esplanade on the island were affected by the ongoing inter-monsoon season, which is causing rough seas and strong winds.

About 10.30am, strong waves up to 2 metres high struck the Pantai Bersih coastline, sweeping away fishing nets and partly damaging the outboard engines of two boats belonging to local coastal fishermen.

Fishermen in the area scrambled to save their 10 fishing boats along the coastline as the strong waves lashed out along the coastline for about 45 minutes.
