Our First Lady of Malaysia, the one and only Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor has been named the "Most Powerful Woman In Malaysia". Intrigued by her new title, we did a little research to find out why.

On March 2, 2012, Rosmah was bestowed the Distinguished Service Medal in New Jersey, in recognition of her public service, especially in the areas of empowering women and gender equality, and the important role she plays in encouraging early education among Malaysians.

She then started the nationwide movement on the development of early childhood education and care which focuses on children below 5 years. Through her effort, to date, more than 600 Permata Negara Centers have been set up throughout the country.

This was proven from studies carried out by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, which showed the development of emotion, personality and self-confidence of Permata children of year one or two, indicating more confidence compared with their peers.

PERMATA National Pioneer Project came as a result of a meeting between Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor and a group of professionals to discuss on finding solutions to overcome the worrisome social problems that were besetting the youths in the country.

In education, Rosmah is an honourary doctorate

Rosmah Mansor, wife of prime minister, was today conferred the honorary Doctor of Letters degree by Australia’s Curtin University in recognition of her efforts in the development of education, particularly children’s education through the Permata Negara programme.
