A Toddler In Sabah Has Died After Allegedly Being Slapped And Stomped On By 4 Girls
Police have arrested the four girls, aged 16 to 19.
A 20-month-old toddler has died allegedly at the hands of his mother's four friends at Taman Hatib in Semporna, Sabah
According to a report in NST Online, the incident happened at about 6.45pm on Friday, 20 September, when Muhammad Al Suhaimi Alsarif succumbed to injuries believed to have been sustained from being slapped, stomped on and thrown against a mattress.
A 23-year-old mother of the toddler had brought the child in an unconscious state to the Semporna Hospital Emergency Ward
At the hospital, cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on the child.
However, the baby was not responding and died hours later, Semporna Police Chief Superintendent Sabarudin Rahmat was reported as saying.
A police report was lodged the same day
Following the police report of the incident, four foreign girls between the ages of 16 and 19 were arrested at 9.30pm that same day to assist in the investigations.
A girl was slapping and throwing the baby to a mattress and repeated it until his face hit the bed frame. Another one stomped on the baby's back.
"When the mother returned to the scene, she found that the baby was weak, pale and had no signs of breathing before going to the hospital," Sabarudin said.
According to Sabarudin, while the mother had been taking care of the child, she was not around at the time of the incident on Friday
The four women are friends to the mother and stay together at the same house.
"All of them – three Filipinas and an Indonesian – were remanded and are being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he added.
