A Sabahan TikTok influencer, Abby, recently shared her disappointing flight delay experience that ended up costing her extra money

Abby stated in a one-minute video that she was forced to take a transit flight that stopped at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) while she was on her way back to her hometown of Kota Kinabalu (KK), Sabah.

The woman, who flew all the way from Penang, added that she didn't mind paying RM800 for the flight, but was surprised by the transit because she never had to do so before.

"This time, I am going back to my hometown for Raya and the ticket cost RM800, and that is still okay," she said.

"Usually, I fly from Penang and go straight to KK. But because of the Raya holiday, all of the tickets had sold out, and I had to transit to Kuala Lumpur (KL)," she added.

To make matters worse, her flight from Penang to KL was delayed, causing her to miss her connecting flight from KL to KK

Abby stated that she anxiously stared at her watch the entire flight to KL and began crying when she realised she would miss her other flight.

"When I arrived in KL, I checked the time and knew that I had already missed my flight," she said.

The college student then called her mother to see what other flights she could take.

However, all the other flights were expensive, with the cheapest one costing RM641 for a one-way ticket.

She also attached a screenshot from the conversation she had with her mother, who told her that she was willing to pay the extra RM641 to get her home safely.

"Do you know how hard it is to be a Sabahan here?" she asked tearfully.

Her touching video went viral, sparking a heated debate among netizens who also believed that flight tickets to Sabah are always exorbitantly priced

One user commented that being a Sabahan in Peninsular Malaysia is extremely difficult.

"I don't understand why flights to Sabah are so expensive despite being in Malaysia. Pity all the Sabahans and Sarawakians," another user commented.

Another commented that they cried watching the video because they understood the struggles of being a Sabahan student who studies in Peninsular Malaysia.

"Every year, the flight tickets are as if you're going overseas," they wrote.
