[VIDEO] Lorry Driver Who Set Off Fireworks On MRR2 Has Now Been Arrested
He did it at the request of his friend's customers.
Police have arrested a man who was seen in a viral video lighting fireworks on Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) on 14 April
The 42-second clip showed the man setting off a box of fireworks in the middle of the road, amidst heavy traffic.
On Saturday, 15 April, the 35-year-old Malaysian was arrested by the Ampang police at 10pm in Jalan Dagang, reported Bernama.
Ampang Jaya District Police chief ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak said that the suspect, who works as a lorry driver, had set off the fireworks at the request of his friend's customers.
The case is being investigated under Section 6 of the Explosives Act 1957 for using explosives that may endanger life or damage property or injure people
"The suspect is also being investigated under Section 3(5) of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for playing with and letting off fireworks," added Mohamad Farouk.
He explained that the suspect has no criminal record and the urine test conducted came back negative.
Yesterday, 16 April, the suspect was taken to the Ampang Court, which issued an order to remand him until Wednesday, 19 April, under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Court.
