A 19-year-old Sandakan boy was found dead in his own pool of blood last night. He reportedly slashed himself to death after his parents stopped him from following Islamic religious activities.

According to a report in The Star Online, the boy's body was found on Thursday night, 7 June, while holding a saw, with which he is believed to have slashed himself.

The Star Online quoted Sandakan police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin saying that the teenager was forbidden by his parents from attending Islamic religious activities in Sandakan, following which he had been depressed.

It was the boy's father who found his body in their kitchen

According to ACP Azhar, while the boy was supposed to go to Kuala Lumpur for a job, he refused and returned home after reaching Sandakan airport.

"After coming home from the airport, the boy did not show any reaction but refused to speak to anyone," The Star Online quoted the ACP as saying, who added that the boy was found dead shortly after with multiple slash wounds on his neck and body.

Police have classified the case as a sudden death
