Shooting In Bukit Mertajam: What We Know So Far About The Broad Daylight Incident

Earlier today at around 11.45am, a gunman shot a businessman with multiple bullets whose car was at the Jalan Kulim traffic light junction in front of the Taman Sentosa food court in Bukit Mertajam

1. The victim survived the shooting but is badly injured

According to NST Online, the unidentified victim was rushed to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital after being helped by members of the public at the scene.

Seberang Prai Tengah district police head ACP Nik Ros Azhan Bik Abdul Hamid said that the victim was conscious and they managed to record a statement from him.

2. He had just finished his meal at the food court where he had met a friend and was driving away when the gunman drove up to his car

3. The gunman fired nine rounds of bullets

According to theSun, the suspect was using a semi-auto revolver.

While the victim suffered three gunshot wounds, the gunman, who was wearing a ski mask, got away in another car driven by an accomplice, Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said, according to The Star Online.

The three bullets were lodged in the victim's upper chest and shoulders.

4. The victim, in his early 20s, is said to be a smartphone dealer

After being shot, he crashed his black Honda Accord into a road divider.

Meanwhile, police are trying to secure CCTV recordings of the incident and have asked eyewitnesses to come forward and help in their investigation, reported theSun.
