A Facebook page called "Boikot Barangan Cina DAP" has weighed in on the incident where a slab of meat, believed to be pork, was left at the entrance of the Cheruk Tok Kun Atas mosque in Penang on Sunday.

The owner of the page posted photos of the meat and included pictures of Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim of DAP and opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the same page. The posting titled "Cina Lontar Daging Babi Depan Pintu Masjid" (Chinese tossed pork in front of mosque entrance) also came with statements that implied that Sim was involved in the incident.
The first-time MP lodged a police report over the posting this morning at the Seberang Prai Tengah police headquarters together with Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari and Seberang Jaya assemblyman and state exco Dr Afif Bahardin. "This latest incident with the Facebook page is slanderous and provocative," he said in a joint statement with Zairil and Dr Afif.

Calling on the police to put a stop to such incidents, otherwise the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar should take responsibility and quit. "This is all to create chaos in order to take down the state government. It is clear that the state's enemies do not want to see progress under the PR administration, which has taken care of the people's welfare.

"Under PR, allocations for Islamic affairs and developments have increased annually. It is because they have run out of capital that they are desperate to resort to conspiracy like this to create havoc," they said.

“This is because the piece of meat has been sent for animal DNA testing where the facility is only available in Sepang,” he told FMT when contacted today.
There is a 90 per cent possibility that the piece of raw meat found outside a mosque in Cherok Tok Kun, Machang Bubok is indeed pork, say Penang police. Mazlan again stressed for the public to remain calm and not make speculations as the case touches on religious sensitivity.
“Initially, the piece of meat had been sent to the Bukit Minyak veterinary department for inspection but since they have no DNA testing facilities there, it had to be sent to Sepang,” he added.

Mazlan said there are no closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) in the area but it is believed that the suspect used the main road, which is less than 10m from the mosque, and tossed the meat when he got to the mosque's entrance.

We have sent the piece of meat for laboratory tests to determine if it is really pork. From the looks of it, yes, it appears to be, so but we still need to confirm,” State CID Chief Mazlan Kesah said.
He said the police were “thoroughly investigating” the matter and urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward, adding that "this is the first time this has happened at the mosque.

Meanwhile, Bukit Mertajam Umno Division chief Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir, when approached at an event here, condemned what he described as an irresponsible act.
"We hope that the police will take firm action against the culprit," he said.

Lim said closed circuit television (CCTV) will be installed outside the mosque to prevent similar incidents in the future. He said the state has also instructed Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim and Machang Bubuk assemblyman Lee Khai Loon to look into it immediately.

"The mosque is just next to the main road so anyone could have thrown the meat. So far, the mosque congregation is calm and we advise everyone to remain so," he said.
