Netizens Outraged At Father Who "Snatched" His Son Away From The Mother
A video featuring Datuk Wira SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin, his ex-wife and his son has gone viral.
Social media has been abuzz since yesterday, 28 September, with a video that features a son being separated from his mother after a court proceeding
The video involves the group executive chairman of NAZA World Group of Companies Datuk Wira SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin, his ex-wife, Datin Emilia Hanafi and their son.
The video, that lasted for almost two minutes, got the attention of many local netizens. They expressed their sympathy for the son who appeared to refuse to let his mother go, clinging onto her.
To make matters worse, during the ongoing commotion, Emilia was suddenly on the ground while she cradled her son in her arms. However, it was unknown how the incident took place as the scene happened off-camera. Many speculated that SM Faisal had pushed his ex-wife and son to the ground.
It is believed that the video was first uploaded on Emilia's personal Instagram account.
Many people agreed that it was unfortunate that the children are the ones who suffer most from this whole fiasco
After the video footage went viral on social media, SM Faisal came forward to offer his side of the story
"I am not a person who likes to publicise personal affairs and my family in the public eye, but after a video went viral and received various comments from netizens, I have to step forward to explain what actually happened in regards to the incident," he wrote on his Instagram account.
"I have been called to the Syariah Court on contempt of court order against my ex-wife who failed to appear at the previous proceeding. I went with my mother, my brother and my sister, because they had wanted to meet with their grandchildren and nephews whom they dearly missed."
"There are many representatives from the ex-wife of mine who was also present, including some of the individuals who recorded everything that happened in the court room."
He went on to explain that the court had in fact, granted him visitation rights
"At the end of the proceedings, the court granted me the permission to bring home three of my children for one day only," he continued.
"Even for a single day, I am very happy. However, as my eldest is child unwell, the court agreed to allow him to live with his mother."
"The family of the ex-wife had uttered harsh words against me and my family. I didn't react to say anything because I had appeared in court in order to meet with all three of my children that I've been missing."
"After the proceeding was completed, my ex-wife has demonstrated her unwillingness to release the children. This incident has caused my children to feel disoriented, confused and scared."
"In this case, my ex-wife suddenly fell to the floor and clasped my son in her arms. This incident, which was witnessed by many people in court, had caused my son to be in fear."
"This incident has been recorded by the individual from the back corner. I'm not violent, in fact, I have appealed to my ex-wife to allow me to see my son as I reached out to him with my arms."
"Looking at the faces of my son, I knew I will not be able to bring back my son that day."
"I only can bring back my youngest son, and I'm very grateful. I spent time with him, took him to meet with his cousins and showered my love towards my youngest son, whom I have dearly missed."
SM Faisal added that he only wants the best for the welfare and the future of his children
"The next day, as directed by the court, I have brought back my son and handed him over to my ex-wife to be under her care."
"I appeal to the media and the public to not magnify this incident as this is a private affair. While there are those who deliberately exaggerate these things for the sake of publicity or any other intentions, my family and I will continue to steadfastly abide by the decision of the court."
"As a father, I only want a quick and fair solution for the welfare and future of my children," he said at the end of his lengthy posts.
It is believed that SM Faisal and Emilia divorced last March
Earlier in June, it was reported that SM Faisal was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment of two years or RM4,000 fine, or both, upon conviction.
According to the Malaysiakini report, it was alleged that SM Faisal had beat up his then-wife Emilia on 22 November 2015, in their house in Desa Sri Hartamas.
