A student at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Gombak campus tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, 30 October

IIUM said that the infected student was immediately referred to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

"The situation in the university is under control and we collectively continue to undertake necessary preventive and precautionary measures as issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Nasional Security Council (NSC)," read a statement issued by IIUM.

Among the measures that IIUM has taken to ensure the safety of its community include identifying and isolating those who are in close contact, conducting contact tracing, and sanitising the affected premises.

The university has since closed Mahallah Ali (Block A)

"Mahallah Ali (Block A) has been closed since Friday, 30 October until further notice, for contact tracing and decontamination as per instructions from MOH," it said.

It added that students at the said block were not allowed to leave until further notice.
