"We are truly sorry for the Demo Clearance Event," Switch posted on its Facebook page, referring to its sale for Apple products at MyTown Shopping Centre in Cheras that had to be cancelled due to safety concerns after a massive crowd of 11,000 people turned up

On Friday, during the day one of Switch's Warehouse Clearance sale the crowd grew too big for Switch and MyTown to handle as the former was forced to close less than two hours after opening its doors to the public.

According to Switch's Facebook post, the move was made together with MyTown Management to ensure the safety of the crowd.

While Utusan Malaysia had previously estimated the crowd size to be around 3,000, Switch on Saturday said that there were 11,000 people and they felt "overwhelmed".
