Another Female Passenger Robbed By A Taxi Driver Who Then Pushed Her Into A Drain
The victim suffered serious injuries to her backbone.
A female foreign student experienced traumatic moments when she was robbed by her taxi driver yesterday, 20 July
New Straits Times reported that the incident is believed to have taken place at Bukit Sentosa, Hulu Selangor during the wee hours when the Uzbekistan woman took a cab to return home from an entertainment outlet in Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.
She was supposed to return to her condominium home nearby but instead, she was driven to Bukit Beruntung by the crooked cabbie. The taxi driver then stole her handbag, which contained RM100, and her cellphone before pushing her out of his taxi, The Sun Daily reported.
According to Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent R. Supramaniam, the victim was believed to be drunk, and she was found lying inside a drain at Jalan Jenjarum 1C, Bukit Beruntung about 9.30am.
Police revealed that the incident did not end after the cabbie pushed her out of the car, as he returned to the scene afterwards
The 23-year-old victim told the police that she tried to chase the taxi but the driver fled.
"The victim said she tried to run after the taxi, but failed as the driver had sped off," Supramaniam was quoting as saying by NST Online.
"Suddenly, the taxi returned to location and the driver shoved her into a drain," he added.
Thankfully, the members of the public were quick to offer help to the victim
It was reported that passers-by spotted her and called the police, who then rushed to the scene.
When the police arrived at the scene, they called for an ambulance that took her to the hospital.
It was revealed that the victim sustained a broken spine as a result of being pushed into a drain by the taxi driver.
This incident was the second case involving a rogue cabbie this week. According to the police, investigations are being carried out to determine if both cases involved the same perpetrator.
