Teacher Allegedly Punched A 9-Year-Old Boy For Answering A Question Wrongly
The incident happened at a primary school in Putrajaya.
A teacher allegedly punched a 9-year-old student at a primary school in Klang Valley
According to the report on the incident by Free Malaysia Today (FMT), the boy's mother, Nur Syaheerah Sutchira Abdullah, claimed that the teacher punched the Standard Three student for answering a question wrongly during an English class on 12 July.
Harian Metro said that the incident had allegedly happened at a primary school in Presint 11, Putrajaya.
The teacher had allegedly punched the boy, Adam Mikhael Mubashir, so hard to the point that the boy fell backwards and hit his hip on the corner of the table, which made him feel dizzy and nauseated
"The punch caused my son to feel disoriented and he was also told to stand until the class ended," Nur Syaheerah explained at a press conference yesterday, 17 July, as reported by FMT.
The incident had apparently caused Adam to feel afraid to go back to school and that the doctor that took a look at Adam told Nur Syaheerah that the beating had caused shaking around the brain. Adam is also suffering from pains in his waist as he hit the table when he fell.
"I met the principal but was told that the teacher and my son would be monitored. No action has been taken against the teacher and it was only that my son was given counselling."
“I am distressed that my son was treated in such a manner," said Nur Syaheerah when speaking to reporters.
She said that the principal told her that the teacher would be transferred to a different class and not teach her son's class anymore. The teacher in question would however, still be teaching in the same school as Adam's and has the potential to run into the boy, added the mother.
Nur Syaheerah has lodged a police report on the matter at the Putrajaya police headquarters
"Adam told me not to tell the school authorities as he was scared of the teacher," added Nur Syaheerah.
Putrajaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Rosly Hasan told FMT that he has received the police report and the investigations are ongoing. The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
