Last Wednesday, the Pakatan Harapan Government launched an official trust fund for those who want to help alleviate the country's RM1 trillion debt

According to a statement released on 30 May, the purpose of the fund is to "provide a systematic and transparent platform to ensure all contributions and donations from the people are properly managed and organised."

This came days after Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh warned the public to be wary of donating to unofficial fundraising campaigns.

Three separate donations from Penang have added a total of RM3 million to the Tabung Harapan fund as of today, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng confirmed

The cheques were handed over to the Lim Guan Eng today, in the presence of new Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Malaysiakini reported.

Thanks to the latest donations, the total of the Tabung Harapan Malaysia fund now stands at RM30 million
