He sat for his A-levels at 15 years old, obtaining an A for Chemistry and Math, and an A* for Physics.

The son of a doctor, Emir's interest in medicine emerged when he was 11 years old

"I can't see myself doing life any other way than by being a doctor," he told theSun.

Emir recalled volunteering at the Kelana Jaya mosque with his father and observing the difference free consultation could make to people facing hardships.

Though it is early days yet to choose a specialty, the 16-year-old is excited to delve deeper into the study of the heart

The heart just fascinates me – how it works – and I just want to do what I love which is to become a heart surgeon," he said.
