A woman, believed to be a tourist from China, was caught on CCTV defecating on the grounds of a homestay in Cameron Highlands in broad daylight
The indecent act was uploaded in a video to social media, drawing ire among the public.
The one-minute video shows the woman, accompanied by a friend, squatting in a back alley and then hastily leaving the location, leaving her faeces on the ground.
In a repost by X user @anthraxxx781, the video has garnered close to two million views.
Netizens were both perplexed and disgusted by the woman's lack of hygiene and civic consciousness
While many Malaysians excused pooping in public if it was an emergency, especially with no toilet readily available, many were dumbfounded that the woman chose to defecate so openly, especially in an area with many guesthouses, which would not have turned her away.
"Why must she do it in the middle of the road? Couldn't she have gone into a bush or beside a drain?" questioned an X user.
"Wouldn't it be uncomfortable if she didn't wash after taking a poop? And she immediately pulled her underwear up, wouldn't her shit stick to her pants? That would definitely smell bad," commented another netizen.
"Isn't she embarrassed that her friend is watching her? But it looks like her friend also doesn't care about her poop. I cannot understand," said another.
